Why did you join Drama Society?
To be honest, I joined Drama Society on a whim, especially since I didn't plan on continuing with Theatre after high school. However, the people that I met and all the productions that I've been a part of kept me in it, and I found myself spending more and more time in the theatre space and Drama Society. They also don't tell you this but you also get a bazillion dollars when you join the executive team.
I'm looking most forward to...
Other than chatting, gossiping and talking about random stuff with my friends in the theatre for hours on end, I'm most looking forward to meeting new people that I can chat, gossip and talk with about random stuff in the theatre for hours on end. If you yourself are a fan of this, I can easily be found in the grey space as the person who doesn't stop talking.
What do you enjoy outside of school, clubs, and work?
My hobbies include staying up till 3AM playing video games (sometimes 4AM), baking and cooking (zero kitchens burnt so far), as well as messing up anatomy every time I try to do art (always did prefer drawing landscapes). Other than that, I'm also highly skilled in procrastinating, as well as napping and yapping (that rhymes).
Can you give some advice to students looking to get involved?
Just go for it, you never know where it takes you. Me placing my application for tech work in the last minute during first year led me all the way to where I am now. Even if you don't get into anything, keep on trying. If that doesn't work, honestly, even just meeting people in the theatre department and making great friends along the way was enough for me, good side bonus if I say so myself.
What is your favourite theatre show or play?
My favourite theatre show is probably Les Misérables, its probably the earliest musical I remember watching where I could remember the songs for, and one of the main reasons I started getting involved in theatre in the first place. For gatekeeping reasons, I don't recommend it.
