Why did you join Drama Society?
I joined the Drama Society out of a pure love for making theatre come to life through technical design. I think that there is something so special about taking a script and telling its story through sound, lighting, and other technical effects. The Drama Society has been the perfect place for me to do that.
I'm looking most forward to...
This year, I am most looking forward to working with the incredibly talented designers, stage managers, actors, and directors that will be creating our shows. I think the best part of working in theatre is meeting all of the cool people who put in the work to bring these shows to the stage.
What do you enjoy outside of school, clubs, and work?
Outside of school and work, I love to get involved with as many sports teams as I can. I love hockey, ultimate frisbee, and distance running, and I try to stay active all through the year.
Can you give some advice to students looking to get involved?
For anyone interested in getting involved in theatre with any role, my biggest piece of advice would be to talk to people. The UTSC Theatre community is incredibly friendly, everyone is looking to support others however we can, and you'd be surprised how many opportunities you can find out about simply through talking to people. It can be as easy as saying hi in the hallway or stopping by the theatre spaces to hang out.
What is your favourite theatre show or play?
My favourite theatre production is the stage version of "The Wizard of Oz". It was the first show I ever worked on and the one that got me into working in theatre in the first place. I later got to see a professional version of it, which I would absolutely recommend, because it really cemented my love for theatre, especially after working on my own version of it.
